The multidisciplinary debate Battle at EMMA Areena explored the North as a place, concept and attribute. The subject was approached from the viewpoints of literature, science, politics and arts. The event was a part of the N=000° publication and exhibition series and was arranged in collaboration with the University of Lapland and EMMA Espoo Museum of Modern Art.

What does the North contribute to the universal themes of love, hate and change? Does the geographical periphery bring you to the edge and over the ledge emotionally too?

Relation Artis - a seminar at the University of Lapland in Rovaniemi Fonland.
Mauri Ylä-Kotola (rector of the University of Lapland), Juhani Pallasmaa, Kalevi Aho, Catarina Ryöppy, Timo Valjakka, Jussi Tiainen and Reija Hirvikoski.

 

Relatio Artis –seminar engaged established and acclaimed art professionals as collaborative partners in an educational effort to enrich and encourage the students interested in pursuing a career in the arts. The seminar was also a tribute to the creative Northern spirit: this public offering contextualizing the artistic process coincided with the opening of the House of Culture Korundi and was a joint effort of Kari Huhtamo Art Foundation, the University of Lapland and the City of Rovaniemi.

ncounters - the seminar, in which five established designers and artists presented their work and gave the students an insight into their professional careers.

Encounters-seminar was arranged in collaboration with the Faculty of Arts, University of Lapland. This free of charge event brought together the established and applauded artists Kari Huhtamo, Kari Piippo, Lucien den Arend, Jorma Hautala, Yrjö Kukkapuro and Antero Toikka and the fine art students in the beginning of their careers.
